The District Court here on Sunday sentenced a Saudi woman to nine months in prison and 300 lashes of the whip after she was convicted of carrying an AK-47 assault rifle and pointing it at a school principal in an attempt to remove her son from the school. The woman, who is in her forties, stormed into Al-Dhikra Primary School, located about 105 km south of Hail, in attempt to take her son by force following a dispute with his father. When the principal refused to release the boy, she pointed the gun at him and threatened to kill him. The woman's female accomplice, also in her forties, was sentenced to one month in jail and 100 lashes of the whip and her driver got 15 days behind bars and 50 lashes.
