Persons whose homes were damaged by last year's earth tremors in the Omluj region are receiving compensation from a total purse of SR92 million. Representative committees from the ministries of Finance and Interior have already started paying out compensation packages, according to Abdul Karim Al-Samhan of the Ministry of Finance committee. Al-Samhan said 2,202 nationals were eligible for compensation. “A first batch of 1,270 has already received payments from 44 million riyals, and a second of 932 has received a total of 48 million. Each individual is being compensated with between 28,000 and 110,000 riyals.” The first disbursement committee began issuing payments at the beginning of last week and the second a few days later, he said.
