Jeddah Police on Saturday arrested an Arab national accused of murdering a former policeman whose body was found at an apartment in Al-Rabwa District late Thursday night. The police were able to arrest the suspect after a single hair was found in the hands of the murdered policeman. The suspect, who said he did not remember how many times he stabbed the victim, admitted that he had a personal dispute with the victim and claimed that the murder was in “self-defense”. The victim's body was found with a slit throat and 26 stab wounds. A spokesman said the police suspected the Arab man as investigations indicated the murderer was an acquaintance of the victim and available information showed the arrested Arab was seen with the deceased hours before the murder took place. Police took the man in custody for interrogation, and lab results showed the hair found in the victim's hand and fingerprints found in the apartment belonged to the suspect.
