The Court of Appeal has upheld the 10- and five-year prison sentences and lashes for two persons who impersonated police officers and kidnapped a man of Asian nationality and robbed another. The original General Court ruling, which also saw the two sentenced to 1,000 and 800 lashes respectively, came after the two men were stopped in a car in the Al-Aziziyia District of the capital and found with a third passenger who had been kidnapped at knifepoint in the Al-Batha area. Investigations revealed that the two had kidnapped another man on a previous occasion with the same intent to rob him.
