The Court of Cassation has recommended a harsher punishment on a sorcerer punished by the Shariah Court. The Cessation Court has also sought a review of the case. The Shariah Court had sentenced the Moroccan sorcerer to six months in jail and 150 lashes as he was found guilty of indulging in witchcraft and swindling people. The culprit has confessed that he used to collect money from his victims under the pretext that he could bring luck to them because of his supernatural powers. The three-judge panel of the Court of Cassation believes that the sorcerer's act falls under the crimes that necessitate enforcement of capital punishment. - Okaz __
