The Louvre Museum in Paris launches Tuesday its “Roads of Arabia - Archaeology and History of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” exhibition, with the official opening ceremony scheduled to be conducted at 2.30 P.M. Saudi time by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal. The exhibition, which runs until Sep. 27, will display approximately 300 rare pieces, many of which have never been exhibited outside the Kingdom, charting the country's archeology and history from prehistoric times to the beginning of the modern era. An accompanying photographic exhibition of images taken by French travelers to the Arabian Peninsula has been arranged by King Abdul Aziz Darat and the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, along with documentary films and lectures delivered by both Saudi and French specialists. A 600-page book of the exhibition has also been published in French, English and Arabic, giving a comprehensive guide to the display and the history and culture of Saudi Arabia throughout history. The “Archaeology and History of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” exhibition will later move on from the Louvre to other European capitals, and major cities in the United States of America.
