American Paula Creamer birdied two of her final five holes in the fourth round for a two-under 69 to capture the 65th US Women's Open Sunday. Creamer earned her first major championship crown and ninth career LPGA Tour title with help from consecutive birdies on holes 14 and 15. She played 23 holes Sunday, entering the final round of the weather-hit event at the Oakmont Country Club with a three-shot lead before finishing at three-under 281. The 23-year-old Creamer, who underwent thumb surgery earlier this year, cruised to a four-shot victory over runners-up Suzann Pettersen of Norway and South Korea's Na Yeon Choi. Pettersen and Choi finished at one-over 285. Creamer is the second American to win the event in the past three years. Cristie Kerr captured the title in 2007. Alexis Thompson, a 15-year-old playing in her second tournament as a professional, shot a two-over 73 in the fourth round to finish in a tie for 10th. The US teenager was the clubhouse leader when darkness halted play on Saturday, when the tournament was still playing catch up after a rain delay Friday. Woods to play with Justin Rose at St. Andrews Tiger Woods will be playing the first two rounds of the British Open with Justin Rose of England, one of the hottest players in the world with two victories in his last three starts. It will be the first time Woods and Rose have been drawn together in the Open since 2002 at Muirfield, under far different circumstances. Rose was just starting to turn his game around, while Woods was going for the calendar Grand Slam. Rose comes into this Open having won the Memorial and the AT and T National on the PGA Tour. Woods has yet to win this year, coming off a five-month break from the chaos in his personal life. Camilo Villegas of Colombia is the third player in their group. They are to tee off Thursday at 0809 GMT.
