The spectacular fireworks display during the launching of the 31st Jeddah Summer Festival (Jeddah Ghair) Thursday was of breathtaking world class calibre. The show, to be followed by other fireworks displays throughout the summer festival, was designed by a renowned international manufacturer and supplier of fireworks. Almost five tons of fireworks were used by the professional international team of Arab Media Services, a subsidiary of MBC group. The professional team is here from Dubai to provide fireworks for the summer festival after having spent more than two-and-a-half months preparing the design of the colorful displays. “In order to provided world class shows, we are using fireworks products from famous suppliers in China, Italy, Germany and the US,” Jakub Kencho Skalski, managing director of Flash Art told Saudi Gazette. During the opening ceremony of the festival, glorious colors filled the skies over southern Obhur creating an amazing spectrum of light accompanied by music and sound effects provided by the Flash Art Music Company. The quantity of fireworks used in the Jeddah Ghair opening ceremony this year made the 15-minute show one of the largest in the Middle East in recent years. “Usually fireworks are burst from one point. However, this year the organizers of the Jeddah festival insisted on using three points in order to provide a splendid show with a riot of colors on the horizon,” Skalski said. The show impressed the thousands of attendees among whom were representatives of the American Consulate in Jeddah. “It is the best fireworks display that I have ever seen. For 15 years, my family has attended the international competition of fireworks in Montreal. However, the 31st Jeddah Ghair fireworks show is better than anything there,” Veronica Scarborough, Vice Consul of the US Consulate General in Jeddah, told Saudi Gazette. “This is my first time here at the Jeddah festival. In fact, it was really wonderful and a good start for the summer as well,” Dominic So, US Vice Consul for Political and Economic Affairs, said.
