South Korean Prime Minister Han Seung-soo on Wednesday ordered government ministries to draw up measures to ease the burden of high energy costs on transportation companies and low income-earners. Han gave the instruction while presiding over a meeting of related government officials, including the finance minister and the economy minister, his office said in a statement. “The prime minister ordered the government to draw up and implement detailed measures to help reduce (low-income earners and transport companies') trouble and ease their anxiety,” the office said in the statement. The government decided to consider issuing energy vouchers to low income-earners and transportation firms and extending deadlines for existing energy subsidies.
