One man drowned and another was saved off the coast of Al-Sha'ban Al-Junoubi on Friday after ignoring warning signs prohibiting swimming in the area. The two men, both residents of Madina, found themselves in difficulty in the Umm Al-Humam area after being dragged by strong currents in a zone known for its perilous coral reefs and underwater caves. Seven Border Guard rescue teams were sent out in response to an alert from the father of the pair and divers extracted them from the waters having traversed high waves using motorized dingies. One of the men died shortly after being removed from the water, while the other is said to be in a stable condition in hospital.
