The Indonesian Embassy School in Jeddah paid tribute to the Indonesian minister of education at its premises on July 5. The function was attended by members of the Indonesian community, school staff, teachers and students alike. It opened with the recitation from the Qur'an by a student, followed by the presentation of the school report by the principal, Wiratmoko M. Pd. . Dr. Mohammad Luthfizuhdi, education attache at the Indonesian Consulate, was also there. Education Minister Dr. Mohammad Nuh, who spoke during the occasion, explained to the students the importance of education. “My main mission is to improve the quality of education and the Indonesian government is ready to provide all the facilities for quality education,” he told the students. “Every citizen, wherever he/she may be, has the right to enjoy quality education. There is no discrimination between the government and private schools, all are under one umbrella.” He clarified that there are 744 students at the embassy school in Jeddah and about 300 in Riyadh, including those enrolled in three private schools. “The teacher is not the only source of information of a student nowadays although teachers with good skills still play a very important role. For those who want to become teachers, you must have good training,” he said. The minister conveyed the government's appreciation to the parents, teachers and school management for joining hands in making the embassy school a good institution for learning. At the end of the program, the school principal presented a memento to the minister. An open forum followed during which the parents asked questions and presented their problems.
