Bangladesh recalled former captain Mohammad Ashraful and all-rounder Naeem Islam Friday after batsman Roqibul Hassan and wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim were ruled out of the ongoing one-day series against England. Roqibul, who top scored for his side with 76 in the first ODI, was injured after being struck by the ball on the left toe while Mushfiqur was hit in the face by left-arm spinner Faisal Hossain and had to be stretchered off the field. “Ashraful left home this morning while Naeem will also fly out in the next available flight as Roqibul and Mushfiqur will not be available in the remaining two matches of the series,” chief selector Rafiqul Alam told Reuters. Bangladesh lost the first ODI of the three-match series by six wickets in Nottingham Thursday. Ian Bell hit an unbeaten 84 in his first ODI appearance since November 2008 to guide England to victory. England cruised home with 29 balls to spare in the first match of the series at Trent Bridge, comfortably overhauling Bangladesh's 250 for nine. Captain Andrew Strauss (50) and Craig Kieswetter (32) gave England a solid start to its reply while Paul Collingwood (33) shared a third-wicket stand of 80 with Bell. Roqibul top-scored with 76 and Junaid Siddique hit 51 for Bangladesh, whose total was its second-highest against England in one-dayers. Alam said Roqibul would be out of action for two weeks, ruling him out of ODIs against Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands, but he was hopeful Mushfiqur would return for the Ireland and Scotland ODIs. Uncapped wicketkeeper Sahgir Hossain had also been called up as cover, he added. “He (Sahgir) will join the squad as soon as possible subject to visa approval. Until he reaches England, batsman Jahirul Islam wil handle the job of wicketkeeper,” said Alam. Cook exit takes shine off Lions win England Lions beat India A by five-wickets in the final of the one-day triangular series at New Road in Worcester Thursday. Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale made 90 to help the Lions, England's A side, chase down a 279 target with eight balls to spare in the finale of a tournament that also featured West Indies A. Test opener and Lions captain Alastair Cook returned after missing the three previous matches with a back problem. The Essex left-hander, looking to prove his fitness ahead of the first Test between England and Pakistan in three weeks' time, faced just three balls before falling lbw to 18-year-old Indian quick Jadie Unadkat. Cook has only one four-day County Championship match - against Yorkshire at Chelmsford - before the first Test at Trent Bridge starts on July 29.
