British entertainer Jonathan Ross has agreed to front a new chat show with ITV1 to be shown next year, the commercial broadcaster said Wednesday. “I am thrilled and excited that after a short break I will be rolling up my sleeves and creating a brand new show for ITV1,” said Ross. “I do have a little spare time at the beginning of 2011 though, so if England needs a temporary new manager I will consider the post seriously,” he joked. Ross left the BBC earlier this year after 13 years that saw plenty of controversy, including a 12-week suspension for a prank with comedian Russell Brand in which they left obscene messages on the answerphone of actor Andrew Sachs. The financial details of the one-year deal were not disclosed. Ross earned an estimated six million pounds annually at the BBC where he hosted a Friday night TV chat show, a weekly radio program and a film review programme.
