The Sri Lankan Consul General Sabarullah Khan recently paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Hani M. Aburas, the new Secretary General of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), at the Jeddah Chamber premises, during which he proposed a visit to Sri Lanka by a Saudi delegation of leading businessmen, investors and tourism operators. Consul General Khan invited JCCI members to take advantage of the openings in “one of the most vibrant economies in South Asia which welcomes investments and joint venture partnerships in the trade, investment and tourism sectors”. Consul General Khan said that the two officials reviewed the current commercial ties between Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka and discussed ways and means of expanding them. “We discussed the opportunities for investment and the immense potential for business development in Sri Lanka. especially after the successful ending of the decade-long fight against terrorism,” he said. The JCCI Secretary General welcomed the Consul General's proposal to have a Sri Lankan catalogue exhibition at the Chamber and assured the Consulate General of the JCCI's continued support. The Consul General also invited members of the JCCI gem and jewelry subcommittee to visit Sri Lanka for the Facets Gem and Jewelry exhibition which will be held from Sept. 2 to 5.
