Jeddah police Monday carried out a crackdown on criminals and overstayers in 10 districts of the city. Some 36 suspects wanted for involvement in criminal cases and 900 overstayers, illegal aliens, peddlers and people in violation of public morals were arrested in Assabeel, Onaikish, Al-Misfah, Al-Kandara, Bani Malik, Al-Faisaliya, Al-Safa and Al-Marwa districts. First Lt. Nawwaf Al-Bouq, acting spokesman for Jeddah Police, said checkpoints were placed at the districts' entrances and exits. He added that the crackdown followed several reports the police received and called on citizens and residents to not hesitate in reporting any suspected illegal acts.
