The Cleveland Cavaliers finally had their chance to meet with free agent LeBron James and make their pitch to retain the services of the NBA's reigning MVP. After two days of waiting as James met with the New York Knicks, New Jersey Nets, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers, the Cavaliers spent 90 minutes with him at their Cleveland office. The Cavs were represented by newly hired coach Byron Scott, general manager Chris Grant, assistant general manager Lance Blanks and owner Dan Gilbert. “We had a very good meeting with LeBron and his group,” Grant told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “It went well, it was fun. It was very interactive. Obviously we know LeBron well. I would characterize it as positive.” James then met with the Chicago Bulls' top brass, the final stop in his free agency tour, where he was wooed with a presentation that lasted less than three hours. The Bulls have also held talks with Dwyane Wade, another stand-out in this year's class of free agents, twice in three days. Nowitzki re-signs Dirk Nowitzki has re-signed with the Dallas Mavericks, the player's adviser told local media Saturday. The NBA's free agents cannot officially sign until July 8, but Nowitzki's representative Holger Geschwindner said an agreement had already been struck with the Mavericks. “Yes, we have a deal,” he told the Dallas Star-Telegram. The contract could be worth as much as $96 million over four years, the paper said. The seven-foot power forward is the Mavericks all-time leader in scoring and rebounding and averages 22.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
