The summer program of Saudi Aramco for citizens and expatriate communities this year kicked off last Saturday offering a package of activities that include recreation, education and health, arts, knowledge sphere, theater, children's games, and volunteerism.
The program, a collaborative effort of the Saudi Aramco Exhibit and various organizations, is available to all participants of all ages. It will run for 33 days until Aug. 5.
For boys between 7 to 12 years old, the Saudi Aramco Exhibit is offering free football classes conducted by the Arsenal Football Club of the London Soccer School of Bahrain. Registration for the same is on.
The aim of the Arsenal Soccer School in bringing the free football classes is to provide a first class learning environment which promotes passion, creativity, enjoyment and a sense-of-belonging to both the students and the community.
The summer health program for those interested in wellness is offered by Saudi Aramco Hospital in cooperation with the health professionals from the nursing services department, medical nutrition services unit, and preventive medicine services division.
Healthy lifestyle workshops will be conducted on how to quit smoking, embrace healthy nutrition, interactive physical activities in sports, and injury prevention. There will be health screening clinics for blood and glucose testing and foot care. A workshop and demonstration on healthy food will be held at the Dhahran open theater.
For those interested in arts, there will be art classes that will provide a wide range of courses showing styles, reading the art, ways to use art, importance of art, and why art acquires a special status in heritage. The classes include calligraphy, sculpture, fine arts foundation, mixed media, glass painting, and water painting.
The knowledge sphere will provide participants in several activities. These are:
u The Star Lab, an inflatable planetarium dome that can take up to 30 students at one time. It introduces astronomy through five programs that include cultural star stories, slides, and props.
u The Lego Town, a unique learning environment with hands-on exploratory activities to develop the creative and analytical skills.
u Lego Robotic Kits, an exciting experience that introduces mechanical design, construction, programming and teamwork.
u Technology courses on contemporary social learning and knowledge sharing platforms, such as Facebook, to prepare the youth for maximum utilization of such tools and features.
The Saudi Aramco theater will show films suitable for all ages. Several children's games, such as Giant Baby Football, Mini Golf, Virtual Football, Perfect Your Kick, and How Fast is Your Kick, will be among the daily events.
Saudi Aramco has also set up a Volunteer Center to enable opportunity to participants, from ages 17 years and above, to work in the company-sponsored community events during the summer period until Aug. 25.
