Leading officials of Jeddah Mayoralty, directed by the General Auditing Bureau (GAB) to stop working, confirmed that they are carrying out their duties and said they have not received any instructions from the GAB. Saudi Gazette reported on Sunday that in a letter Osama Ja'far Faqih, President of the GAB, has demanded that Jeddah Mayor Adel Fakeih stop the procedures for appointing leading officials in the mayoralty and to rectify their status so as to conform to Civil Service regulations. In his letter to Mayor Fakeih, the GAB chief stressed that the procedures for appointing employees, assigning them work in the mayoralty and granting them powers to issue administrative decisions and approve official transactions were not in accordance with the regulations. Muhammad Bin Sa'eed Manshi, Assistant Deputy Mayor for Follow-up and Development, and Dr. Ghazi Al-Sulaiman, Assistant Mayor for the General Administration for Marketing and Information Affairs, said though, that they are still working and carrying out their duties normally. Dr. Samir Bin Muhammad Bin Hussein, Director General for Human Resources at Jeddah Mayoralty, refused to comment about the GAB observations and said his opinion can be obtained through the mayoralty's Information Office.
