Otunbayeva, the first woman president of Kyrgyzstan, is a former diplomat who speaks several languages. She was born in the city of Osh, Kyrgyzstan, into the family of Isaac Otunbayev, a member of the Supreme Court of Kirgiz SSR. She is married and has two children. She is fluent in English and Russian in addition to Kyrgyz.
