About 70 Saudi doctors and dentists who graduated from Saudi and recognized foreign universities have been without jobs for more than two years, Al-Madina newspaper said on Friday. When contacted, a Ministry of Health official said the graduates have been refusing to work outside Jeddah which already has a sufficient number of doctors. An unemployed physician was quoted by the newspaper as saying that he was driving a taxi after his job application was not entertained by government and private hospitals. He said that about 80 percent of the doctors in these hospitals are foreigners. A ministry official said plenty of job opportunities are available in adjacent governorates of Jeddah where a doctor can work instead of driving a taxi.
