Umar Amin and Fawad Alam both hit half-centuries as Pakistan's opening first-class tour match against Kent finished in a draw here Wednesday. The tourists made the most of a kind wicket to pick up some welcome batting practice as they extended their second innings total to 264-4 before acting captain Salman Butt declared shortly prior to tea. On Tuesday, left-arm quick Aamer finished with 5-54 as Kent made 259. Chasing 365, Kent was spurred on by a handsome century stand from openers Joe Denly (69) and Chris Piesley (43), before both men fell in the final half-hour of play. Denly was trapped leg before by Abdur Rehman, with Piesley caught behind off the bowling of Shoaib Malik. The home side made 150-3 before the teams shook hands on the draw. The only concern for the visitors was an injury to skipper Shahid Afridi, but Pakistan coach Waqar Younis said it was nothing to worry about. “Our physiotherapist has just got back from London with Shahid Afridi and the scan showed a small muscle rupture in his side,” he said. “He's been asked to rest for two days and have some treatment, then we'll re-asses things, but we're hopeful he will be fine.” O'Keefe to replace Hauritz Australia Wednesday gave a surprise call-up to uncapped spin-bowling all-rounder Stephen O'Keefe, who will replace the injured Nathan Hauritz in the Test squad to face Pakistan in England. The 25-year-old left-armer earned his breakthrough on the back of strong performances for Australia A and after Hauritz went home with a foot problem, further depleting the tourists' bowling stocks. “Stephen has performed strongly in the recent Australia A series against Sri Lanka A in Queensland and is a good young all-round cricketer who deserves his chance,” said selectors' chairman Andrew Hilditch. O'Keefe joins the tour, moved from Pakistan for security reasons, for two Twenty20 matches and two Tests starting next Monday. Trott ton takes England to victory Jonathan Trott's century guided England Lions to a five-wicket win over West Indies A in their triangular series one-day match at the County Ground at Northampton Tuesday. West Indies A's Kirk Edwards made a superb 147 in 132 balls as the tourists posted 278 for six in their 50 overs. But England Test batsmen Trott (118), Alastair Cook (71) and Ian Bell (44) saw the ‘A' side to victory. Ajmal Shahzad removed Devon Smith, the touring team's captain, first ball and Andre Fletcher was then bowled by Chris Woakes. Edwards though batted for 10 minutes shy of three hours and struck three sixes and 18 fours. Cook, not needed in the England squad currently 3-0 up in their one-day series against Australia, captained the Lions and opened with Surrey wicketkeeper Steven Davies. But after Davies fell for 11, Cook and Trott shared a second-wicket stand of 113, with Cook's fifty coming off 52 balls. Trott also omitted from the one-day squad, did his best to show he could perform well in one-day, as well as Test, mode with a hundred off 102 balls before he was out shortly before England crossed the finishing line.
