India's Rohan Bopanna and his Pakistani doubles partner Aisamul Haq Qureshi will face Jurgen Melzer and Philipp Petzschner in the Wimbledon quarterfinals after their victory Tuesday. Austria's Melzer and Germany's Petzschner beat Taiwan's Lu Yen-hsun and Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 Tuesday to set up a clash with Bopanna and Qureshi in the last eight. The unusual Indian-Pakistani pairing have been going around the All England Club wearing tracksuit tops reading “Stop War, Start Tennis” on the back. Reaching the quarterfinals is the best-ever Grand Slam performance for either Bopanna or Qureshi. “When we started out in tennis the tension between India and Pakistan wasn't something I cared about, I was playing with my friend,” Qureshi told the BBC. “Over the passage of time, we've seen a bigger picture apart from tennis, and it's about changing people's views. If we can change even one person's view, we'll take it as a positive. “It's really nice to see Indians and Pakistanis sitting together supporting one team. You don't see that anywhere else, in any sport. Our on-court and off-court relationship proves that Indians and Pakistanis can get on fine.” Sampras vs. Agassi Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, John McEnroe and Ivan Lendl will participate in the 2011 BNP Paribas Showdown exhibition matches at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 28. Sampras will play Agassi in a best-of-three-set match and McEnroe-Lendl will be one set of first to eight games. The four tennis greats won a combined total of 37 Grand Slam titles. Sampras and Agassi met in three US Open finals in New York, with Sampras winning each time, including his first major title in 1990 and his 14th in 2002 - the last match of his career. McEnroe won the US Open four times, and Lendl three. Fed Cup tie in San Diego The San Diego Sports Arena has been chosen by the US Tennis Association to host the Fed Cup final between the United States and Italy on Nov. 6-7. The USTA announced its decision Tuesday. San Diego was one of 10 cities that bid to stage the first Fed Cup final in the US since 2000. Mayor Jerry Sanders calls it “a chance to showcase the vibrancy of this great city to the international community.”
