The recent scorching heat waves which have hit the Kingdom is caused by southern moist winds and northern hot winds blowing over the region at the same time and will continue until the middle of Ramadan. This is according to researcher and astronomer and member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences (AUASS), Khaled Al-Za'aaq. He said this has resulted in the Kingdom's population being caught between two hot waves, which have seen temperatures skyrocket to as high as 60 degrees Centigrade in some places. Al-Za'aaq warned farmers that it is possible the temperatures will affect next season's local production, especially palm products. He added that it is customary for the climate to change, “which is happening these days, as a mild air mass mitigated the heat. It is expected that (the mild heat) will continue until the end of this week. He added, however, that the heat waves will keep coming until the middle of Ramadan.
