The Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) this week launched a program in which 90 young Saudis will be trained to sell perfumes and cosmetics. The program, launched with the cooperation of Radwa Trading Company, is aimed at giving young Saudis trading skills which will enable them to earn a decent living by selling perfumes and cosmetics at shopping malls, commercial centers and exhibition halls. Khalid Al-Saqqaf, Radwa's director of the human resources, said that the program came about as a result of discussions between the JCCI and the private sector on ways to provide work skills and job opportunities to young Saudis. He also said that the perfume and cosmetics sector is important to the Kingdom's economy. The Radwa Company is establishing an academy to teach young men and women about perfumes and cosmetics, he said, adding that he foresees tremendous growth in the sector. “The Saudi market for perfumes and cosmetics is the largest in the Arab World with Saudis spending SR4 billion per annum and this amount is expected to double in the coming years,” said Al-Saqqaf . Abed Aqqad, executive director of the Saudization and employment department at the JCCI, said several other career programs are planned for Jeddah, Riyadh and Al-Khobar “according to the needs of the Saudi market.”
