Published in The Saudi Gazette on 27 - 05 - 2008

Hero Rangers defeated Nestle Milo by 6 wickets and Luna won against Jipco Nai by 8 wickets in the final and bagged the Saudi Pan Gulf titles here.
The tournament was organized by Western Province Cricket Association and sponsored by Saudi Pan Gulf.
In Level-II final, Hero Rangers chose to field and Nestle Milo totaled 179 for 6 in 20 overs. Openers Khurram Karamat and Adalat, put on 90 runs for the first wicket and added two half centuries for Nestle Milo. Khuram went on to score 53 (9 fours, 2 sixes) off just 29 balls before becoming one of the two victims of the slow bowler Amin.
Afroz got Adalat (52), getting a leading edge and skying a catch into the covers. Fahad (24 n.o.) and Zahid (15) contributed to the total as well. Afroze and Amin claimed 2 wickets each for 33 and 29 runs respectively.
In its chase, Hero Rangers cruised home safely, thanks to Ali and Nadeem Saad who put on 94 for the first wicket. The real hero of the winner was batting star Ali, who scored 73 runs with 13 boundaries.
Hero Rangers reached the required target in 18 overs by losing 4 wickets. Nadeem Saad was another architect for the victory, hitting 44 in 23 balls with 6 boundaries. Nazeer and Ahmed showed their determination in wrapping up the match with 20 and 30 runs respectively. Irfan bagged 2 for 19 while Adalat and Zahid took one wicket each.
After opting to bat, Jipco Nai scored 159-8 in the Level-3 final against Luna. Azhar Butt's 47 off 30 balls were the outstanding feature of the innings while Asif (35) kept him company in a stand worth 80 runs.
Wickets tumbled at both the ends and Jipco Nai innings stumbled in the latter stages. The other contributions came from Shafqat Sr. and Shafqat Jr., who scored 21 and 15 respectively. Nadeem was the pick of the bowlers finishing with 3 for 36 while Jehangir and Javed claimed 2 wickets each.
Chasing a moderate total, Luna's opener Iftikhar fell cheaply but Asif and Habib laid the foundation for victory.
Habib kept the momentum by hitting 70 runs with 7 boundaries and 2 sixes on successive balls. Asif scored 42 while Jehangir's 37 came out with 4 boundaries and 2 sixes. Luna eventually won in the 16th over.
Man of the match awards were given to Ali of Hero Rangers and Habib of Luna.
