Dustin Pedroia hit three home runs, including a tiebreaking shot off Huston Street in the 10th inning, to lift the Boston Red Sox over the Colorado Rockies 13-11 in a wild game Thursday that lasted nearly five hours. Boston averted a three-game sweep in a rematch of the 2007 World Series and bailed out closer Jonathan Papelbon after he blew a late lead at Coors Field for the second straight night. Marco Scutaro singled with one out in the 10th and Pedroia sent a shot into the left-field bleachers off Street (0-1), who just recently was activated after spending 2½ months on the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation and a strained left groin. The teams combined to use 14 pitchers in a back-and-forth marathon that lasted 4 hours, 48 minutes and capped a dramatic series. Pedroia, who scored four times, had the first three-homer game of his career. He had a pair of two-run shots, a solo homer, a double, a single and a walk. Rangers 6, Pirates 5: At Arlington, Texas, Vladimir Guerrero singled home the winning run with two outs in the ninth inning against Pittsburgh as the Texas Rangers won their 11th straight game. Josh Hamilton had three hits for the American League West leaders, extending his career-best hitting streak to 18 games. Texas' winning streak is the longest in the majors this season. The club record is 14 consecutive wins in 1991. Elvis Andrus drew a one-out walk in the ninth from Steven Jackson (0-1) and went to second on Michael Young's single. Andrus dashed to third on Ian Kinsler's flyout and scored when Guerrero laced a 2-2 pitch to left, completing a three-game sweep for the Rangers and four-run comeback. Phillies 12, Indians 3: At Philadelphia, Joe Blanton pitched effectively into the eighth inning and the Philadelphia Phillies roughed up Fausto Carmona to complete a three-game sweep of the Cleveland Indians with a 12-3 victory in interleague play on Thursday. Placido Polanco had four hits, Chase Utley and Jayson Werth each had three hits and catcher Dane Sardinha connected for his first career home run for the Phillies. It was Philadelphia's highest offensive output since scoring 12 runs against Pittsburgh on May 17. Every Phillie scored and reached base at least once. White Sox 2, Braves 0: At Chicago, Paul Konerko homered with two outs in the eighth inning, lifting Chicago to their ninth straight victory. Gavin Floyd, J.J. Putz and Bobby Jenks combined on a two-hitter for the White Sox, who have their longest winning streak since 2006 and have won 13 of their last 14 games. Atlanta came into the series with five consecutive wins and a 34-14 record over the previous seven weeks but was handed their first sweep since April. Takashi Saito (1-3) relieved Derek Lowe to begin the eighth and gave up a leadoff single to Juan Pierre. After a sacrifice and a flyout, Konerko lined the first pitch he saw into the left-field bleachers. It was the 18th homer for the White Sox captain, who is batting .410 with 22 RBIs in his last 21 games. Dodgers 10, Angels 6: At Anaheim, California, Manny Ramirez hit a pair of RBI singles and the Los Angeles Dodgers scored five runs in the fourth inning to beat the Los Angeles Angels and avoid a six-game season sweep by their Southern California rivals. Brewers 5, Twins 0: At Milwaukee, Yovani Gallardo did not allow a baserunner until Drew Butera singled with one out in the sixth inning, and Milwaukee went on to complete a sweep of Minnesota. Rays 5, Padres 3: At St. Petersburg, Florida, Matt Garza pitched eight effective innings, Kelly Shoppach came within a triple of hitting for the cycle and Tampa Bay beat San Diego. In other matches it was: Cubs 3, Mariners 2, 13 innings; Tigers 6, Mets 5; Blue Jays 5, Cardinals 0; Orioles 11, Marlins 5. National League Astros 7, Giants 5: At Houston, Wandy Rodriguez shook off his recent struggles and Hunter Pence had a three-run homer to lead Houston to its first series win over San Francisco this season.
