The new Al-Ahsa offices of the Ministry of Civil Services, opened only one year ago at a cost of SR15 million, would appear to already be falling to bits. Both staff and public entering the building were as of Wednesday morning directed to a side door after the main entrance had been blocked off due to crumbling walls and ceilings. A source at the site said that the main reception area and internal corridors were also in a dilapidated state, and fallen fittings were visible on the floor. “They've brought in security men to guard the site and stop anyone taking photographs,” the source said. “Staff have also been warned not to supply photographs to the press.” The source said that parts of the building are “difficult to access” and causing consternation among members of the public who have had to negotiate their way around the building since the main entrance was closed.
