Over the past two days residents here have been fighting a losing battle against swarms of locusts which have invaded their houses. Residents had to rush off to buy insecticides to fight the plague. They called on officials at the mayoralty and the Ministry of Agriculture to deal with the situation. The director of the agriculture ministry's branch in Taif was not available for comment. Resident Fahd Al-Hadhli, said he was surprised by the large number of locusts which invaded his home. He was forced to close the doors and windows and switch off the lights in the outside corridors to keep the locusts away. Al-Hadhli raised questions about the absence of government teams with insecticides to kill the locusts.
