A Saudi man has lodged a complaint with police against his local municipality over damage incurred to his car after his son crashed it into a drainage channel under construction. Faraj Al-Asmari said that his 16-year-old son was driving along a main road in the north Asir town of Balasmar when his vehicle left the road and plunged into an area where a drainage passage was being built, leaving him with injuries requiring hospital attention. “The site of the works is dangerous,” Al-Asmari said. “The municipality had not provided any means to prevent falling into the area.” He added that he was seeking compensation “commensurate with the damage inflicted on the car”.
