Dengue Fever Program at the Mayor's Office in Jeddah have said that the number of cases has fallen by 10 percent. According to the sources, 126 confirmed cases were detected last week in south and east districts of Jeddah after the two previous weeks had registered over 150. The sources said that figure for that past 24 weeks showed that 1,752 confirmed cases were detected. The municipal council had requested the mayoralty to draw up a comprehensive plan to tackle dengue fever in the districts where it was proliferating after confirmed cases continued to rise since the launch of the Mayor's Office campaign in January this year, and efforts were intensified after the number of weekly instances hit the 150-mark. Areas of stagnant water which attracts dengue-carrying mosquitoes could still be observed on Saturday in some of the districts threatened by dengue. Many of the pools exist due to a lack of drainage systems.
