Emir of Makkah Prince Khaled Al-Faisal has ordered an urgent study to tackle the year-long traffic and pedestrian congestion in Makkah and at the Holy Sites and Central Zone, particularly during Ramadan and Haj. Chairing a meeting at his office Sunday, Prince Khaled said the study, for which he set a completion deadline of Aug. 10, should find “modern methods” to tackle congestion and include a “10-year time-plan for execution”. “We will work to make Makkah the most intelligent of ‘intelligent cities' through the use of the most up-to-date precision technology available, and I will personally supervise and follow the work,” Prince Khaled said.
