The Egyptian food festival, inaugurated by the Egyptian consul general, was held at the Trident Hotel in Jeddah for three days last week, with the cooperation of Egypt Air. “We organized the Egyptian food festival to let the people indulge in fantastic food, Egyptian dishes cooked to perfection. We want to give special services to the residents, especially in the summer vacation, to promote the domestic tourism,” said Chander Nain, general manager of Trident Hotel. “The Egyptian consulate general is very keen in participating every year. If we talk about Egyptian dishes we are talking about the Egyptian culture and tradition as food is part of culture and civilization,” said Egyptian Consul General Ali El-Ashiry in an interview during the festival. “This year we have new items in our program. We displayed new, nice and unique items of Egyptian products which we are looking forward to be in the Saudi market. We want to give the Saudi businessmen and our friendly Saudi people the opportunity to have an Idea about our unique products,” he said. “Egypt Air is part of our night and we are through promoting our culture. We are giving an invitation to our Saudi brothers to visit Egypt. The relationship between the two countries are excellent but we are enhancing them, economical and culturally and in all the other fields,” he added. The hotel got a special Egyptian chef to prepare the traditional Egyptian dishes for the occasion. He cooked mulkhia, rabbit, pigeon, special soup, ozies and mayza, ful mudammas, mumbar, umali, cream carmel, Egyptian cake, tart and all the Kababs they made in Egypt. Nain said the hotel plans to hold different food festivals during the summer vacation such as sea food festival and Moroccan food festival. “This festival we used to hold every year seeks to give people an idea about Egyptian food as it has a lot of variety. Egyptian food is already well-known but still we want different communities to come to know about Egyptian food and culture,” said Hesham Farag. Egypt Air office manager in Jeddah.
