Kyle Kendrick kept the New York Yankees guessing, Shane Victorino homered and Placido Polanco made a sprawling catch Thursday night as the Philadelphia Phillies won 7-1. The Phillies beat Andy Pettitte (8-2) and took two of three. Shortly before the first pitch, the giant videoboard in center field blared highlights from Pettitte's victory over Philadelphia at Yankee Stadium last November in the clinching Game 6 of the World Series. But this was Kendrick's night, from the moment he struck out leadoff man Derek Jeter. A day after 47-year-old lefty Jamie Moyer's soft tosses bamboozled the Yankees, they had no luck timing the changeups from Kendrick (4-2). Kendrick gave up four singles in seven innings and left with a 3-1 edge. The Phillies pulled away with a four-run ninth. Red Sox 8, Diamondbacks 5: At Boston, David Ortiz hit a two-run homer and Marco Scutaro had three RBIs to power Boston to the victory over Arizona. John Lackey (8-3) pitched six innings as Boston became the only team with three, eight-game winners. The right-hander labored through 112 pitches and earned the win when Adrian Beltre hit an RBI single in the sixth that gave the Red Sox a 5-4 lead. Arizona extended its club record to 13 straight road losses, a streak that began after a May 17 win at Florida. Dan Haren (7-5) allowed six runs, four earned, and seven hits in 5 2-3 innings. The Red Sox (40-28) moved a season-high 12 games over .500 with the three-game sweep. Braves 3, Rays 1: At Atlanta, Jason Heyward homered and Troy Glaus hit a two-run double to back seven strong innings by Tim Hudson in Atlanta's victory over Tampa Bay. The Braves took two of three games in an Interleague matchup of division leaders. They've won four of five overall and 11 of 12 at home to improve to 21-7 at Turner Field. Hudson (7-2) allowed four hits and lowered his ERA to 2.34. In 11 career starts against Tampa Bay, he is 7-1 with a 2.71 ERA. Billy Wagner got his 11th save in 13 chances with a perfect ninth. Elsewhere it was: Mets 6, Indians 4; Rockies 5, Twins 1; Tigers 8, Nationals 3; White Sox 5, Pirates 4; Rangers 6, Marlins 4; Cubs 3, Athletics 2; Royals 5, Astros 2. Reds 7, Dodgers 1: At Cincinnati, Bronson Arroyo hit the first of Cincinnati's three homers off rookie John Ely, pitched seven innings and was part of three double plays, setting up the victory over Los Angeles in a National League match. Arroyo's three-run shot in the second inning made Ely (3-4) double over in disgust. Joey Votto added a two-run homer, and Brandon Phillips had a solo shot.
