Noted Saudi female scientist Hayat Sulaiman Sindi is scheduled to hold an open discussion with women at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday. Rania Salama, chairwoman of the young businesspersons committee at the JCCI, said the Saudi scientist will talk about her journey from primary school to her career in Britain. She will narrate the challenges she faced because of her inability to speak English and the difficulties she overcame in order to succeed in British universities which led to her joining a prestigious research center at Harvard University in the United States. Salama said that this is the first meeting of its kind at the Chamber. “We decided to host Dr. Hayat Sindi because of her personality and her scientific career which should be an inspiration for young people,” Salama added. Hayat Sindi was born in Makkah and studied at Cambridge University. She invented the Magnetic Acoustic Resonator Sensor (MARS) during her doctorate research. An independent organization, Tech Pop, placed her on the list of the world's top 15 scientists in various fields.
