Ghamdi, head of the Civil Defense in Bahra, has said that 50 percent of all registered claimants to compensation for damage suffered during last November's floods in Jeddah have been paid in full. According to Al-Ghamdi, 19,450 applications for compensation were submitted with 8,045 deemed ineligible due to “inaccurate information provided”, failure to respond to telephone calls from the survey committee, or multiple applications under the same name. “The Civil Defense approved 11,405 claims,” Al-Ghamdi said. “A total of 10,533 homes, 359 vehicles and 90 shops and stores were found to have been damaged, along with five farms, two factories and one company premises.” Al-Ghamdi said that Al-Bahra lay on the course of four valleys making it vulnerable in times of heavy rain. “We need to resolve issues concerning roads and flood drainage channels as urgently as possible, and repair existing drains,” Al
