In the wake of a shooting incident at King Khaled Hospital on Sunday, security has been beefed up at all hospitals in Najran. The Najran emirate ordered the extra security measures after an armed citizen shot two people in the hospital's intensive care unit on Sunday afternoon. The security authorities are still interrogating the man who fired the shots, apparently over a personal dispute with a relative at the hospital. The Health Directorate in Najran is currently questioning 22 security guards who were on duty when the incident took place at the 300-bed hospital, the largest in the region. Another team of security officials are scanning the pictures taken by the cameras located in different parts of the hospital. Sources said four security guards were found to be near the place where the incident took place. The four guards, who reported the incident to the security authorities stationed at the hospital, have apparently given crucial information to help investigators. Sources indicated that the shooter saw a relative at the hospital with whom he had a dispute. They argued and he fired three shots at him. A fourth bullet hit an innocent bystander in the leg. The two victims are being treated at the hospital. Lt. Abdullah Al-Ashawi, Acting Police Spokesman in Najran, said the case has been referred to the branch of the Commission for Investigation and Prosecution (CIP). In a statement, the Directorate of Health Affairs' spokesman, Saleh Aal Dhaiba, said a dispute broke out between two young Saudi men. The dispute developed into scuffle in the intensive care unit where they were visiting a patient. He said the security guards at the hospital intervened to settle the matter but one of the young men took them by surprise by pulling out a pistol and opened fire at the other young man, wounding him. A visitor was hit in the leg by a bullet, he said.
