King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has launched the first Saudi-made vehicle named Ghazal 1 during a reception at his palace in Jeddah, Monday. Also present at the event were Dr. Khaled Bin Muhammad Al-Anqari, Minister of Higher Education; Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Othman, President of King Saud University; the university's deputies; and the team involved in the Ghazal 1 project. King Abdullah viewed photos showing the manufacture of the car in different stages. He was briefed by the constructing team on the manufacturing process. He then pressed a button to launch the vehicle. The King thanked the team members and congratulated them on their achievement. Al-Anqari said that the team worked on the project for more than two years with the support of King Saud University. He said Ghazal 1 proves the ability, talent and determination of the Kingdom's youth to overcome all obstacles. Meanwhile, King Abdullah decorated Saudi businessman Muhammad Bin Hussein Al-Amoudi, with the King Saud University Sash of the excellent grade and the university's gold medal. The monarch also handed Al-Amoudi a painting of the King Abdullah Institute for Nano Technology, in appreciation of his support for financing the permanent headquarters of the King's Institute for Nano Technology and other education institutions.
