Jeddah Police and members of the branch of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Saturday raided a large facility used by an expatriate for producing dubious medicines, aphrodisiac creams and substances. The products were made from animal bones and fat and from dried and squashed lizards mixed with a number of creams and carcinogenic oils. Large quantities of cosmetics and creams were also seized in the raid, Al-Hayat reported on Sunday. The expatriate had converted a villa's yard into a factory which he covered and partitioned into individual areas for manufacturing, packaging and storage. Factory laborers fled the scene as soon as the raid started. It was later discovered that a hidden wireless camera placed inside a car parked outside the facility alerted them. The facility manufactured products for slimming, gaining weight, bleaching of the skin, plumping up of hips, as well as aphrodisiacs made by mixing up banned carcinogenic oils and creams. Some of the products were made from dried bones and fat of cows and lizards. Machines for mixing of products and creams which were later sold throughout the Kingdom were found on the premises. More than 15 million jars of cream and medical preparations, ready for packaging, were confiscated, as well as more than 200,000 aphrodisiac pills. A quantity of banned creams was discovered, together with honey and oils and about 10,000 deceiving brochures and more than 100,000 stickers. Recently, a factory producing the same kind of medicines was busted in Taif. According to preliminary investigations, both facilities were operating under the same management. Analysis of the products confiscated showed that they were not suitable for consumption by humans and that they were extremely dangerous for skin and body in general. Police seized the car of the expatriate who managed to flee the scene. __
