A muezzin has been accused of forging 40 signatures of residents of a district here so that he could take over the house of an imam. The muezzin committed the alleged crime after a dispute with the imam. The imam said that he wanted the house back especially after he married a second time. The imam said he was surprised to learn that the muezzin had forged 40 signatures in the complaint he sent to the mosques' administration in the holy city. In the complaint, the muezzin demanded that the imam be removed from his post so that he could live in the house which belongs to the mosque. The imam said the residents in the district have confirmed that they had no idea about the muezzin's complaint in which he included their names and forged signatures. He now wants the muezzin punished for the alleged crime. The Makkah Police have summoned the muezzin for questioning. It was also discovered that the muezzin is working in two ministries – Justice and Islamic Affairs – and is a member of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the Hai'a.
