England thrashed Bangladesh by an innings and 80 runs inside three days at Old Trafford Sunday as the tourists were bowled out for just 123 after being asked to follow on. Steven Finn claimed 5 for 42 and his fellow fast bowler James Anderson took 3 for 16 as Bangladesh capitulated after the entire morning session was lost to rain. Mahmudullah top scored with 38. It meant Bangladesh lost all 20 wickets in consecutive sessions of play after it crashed from 126 without loss to 216 all out Saturday evening. The win gave England a 2-0 series win. Bangladesh, 203 runs behind on first innings, suffered the worst possible start when its talisman Tamim Iqbal was caught behind for two, fending off a short ball, from the second ball of the innings by Anderson. His exit had a disheartening affect on the team and it was soon 39 for six as England took advantage of ideal bowling conditions in breezy, overcast weather. It was the opposite to the heat and sunshine of the previous day when Tamim scored his second hundred in successive tests. Fellow opener Imrul Kayes departed next, for nine, in exactly the same manner that he had been dismissed the previous day, attempting to hook Finn but managing a top edge to Ajmal Shahzad at fine leg. Junaid Siddique squirted a fuller length delivery from Anderson to Kevin Pietersen in the gully. The procession of wickets continued when Jaharul Islam fell to make it 21 for four. He tried to cut a Finn short ball on off stump but could only offer a simple catch to Prior. Anderson had former captain Ashraful caught at first slip by Jonathan Trott with a lifting delivery, for 14. That was 37 for five, before Shakib Al Hasan was bowled by Shahzad for one. Bangladesh was on course to record its lowest-ever Test total at 39 for six but four byes took them past that record low of 62. Mushfiqur Rahim was caught off a Finn leg-stump half-volley, clipped to mid-on. Mahmudullah's resistance ended when he edged an attempted hook off Finn. Finn claimed his fifth wicket when Shafiul Islam edged to Strauss. – ReutersScoreboard England (1st Innings) 419 Bangladesh (1st innings) 216 Bangladesh (2nd Innings) T.
