A medical committee has been formed in Jizan to investigate claims from a father that a female doctor's negligence caused the death of his two-year-old daughter Salma. Dr. Mohsin Al-Tubaiqi, Director of Health Affairs in Jizan, ordered the formation of the committee to probe the matter. Muhammad Hassan Samm, Salma's father, accused the lady doctor at a private polyclinic in Abu Areesh Governorate of causing her death because of a misdiagnosis. He said his daughter was suffering from a sore throat and was examined by the doctor. The doctor allegedly gave Salma two injections. But shortly afterwards the girl became pale, broke out in skin rashes and had blurred vision, claimed Samm. He said he decided to take his daughter to Abu Areesh General Hospital because she had a high temperature. At the hospital the doctors admitted her to the intensive care unit. However, the doctors could not save her life. Jibreel Al-Gabbi, spokesman of the Directorate of Health Affairs in Jizan, said the girl was admitted to the emergency section because she was in a critical condition. The doctors tried to save her but she died of circulatory and respiratory failure. Al-Gabbi confirmed that the Directorate of Health Affairs has set up a committee to investigate possible negligence and incorrect administering of medicines.
