The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Faith has seventy-odd branches, the highest of which is saying Laa ilaha illAllah (there is no god worthy of worship except Allah) and the least of which is removing a harmful thing from the road.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) This Hadith shows that statements and deeds are both part of faith. Many people believe that Iman is only in the heart, and when they disobey Allah, their response is “but my Iman is in my heart!” The true definition of Iman is actions of the limbs, statements of tongue, and affirmation in the heart. All three of these are required for true Iman and this is why Islam is a complete faith, and not a religion of lip service. __
