Police say an overloaded minibus fell into a ravine in northern Philippines, killing 15 people and injuring 15 others after a mountain road partially collapsed due to heavy rains. Senior Supt. Fortunato Albas says the victims were traveling from a local official's election victory party when heavy rains dislodged a part of the narrow dirt road in Mountain Province's Besao township. The minibus plunged into the 250-foot-deep (75-meter-deep) ravine Tuesday. Albas said Wednesday that nine people died on the spot, three died before reaching hospital and three others died later. Poor vehicle maintenance and bad roads are blamed for many accidents in the Philippines, and Mountain Province's roads are particularly dangerous.
