Arsenal winger Theo Walcott was the surprise omission from England's final 23-man squad for the World Cup Finals announced by coach Fabio Capello Tuesday. The 21-year-old Walcott, who has won 11 caps, would have been the youngest member of the party. He started both England's warmup matches against Mexico and Japan in the past week but had an injury-disrupted season with his club. Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry, 29, passed a fitness test after recovering sufficiently from a sprained ankle and was included in the squad but six other players were cut from Capello's original 30 players. Defenders Michael Dawson and Leighton Baines, midfielders Tom Huddlestone, Adam Johnson and Scott Parker and striker Darren Bent were omitted from the final squad. Walcott said in a statement to Sky Sports News: “I am very disappointed not to be included in the squad going out to South Africa, but completely respect Mr. Capello's decision. “I would like to wish the team the best of luck and hope they have a really successful tournament.” England departs for the June 11-July 11 tournament Wednesday and plays its first Group C match against the United States in Rustenburg on June 12. Squad: Goalkeepers: Robert Green, Joe Hart, David James. Defenders: Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock. Midfielders: Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips. Forwards: Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney. Loew drops defender Beck Germany coach Joachim Loew has trimmed his World Cup squad to the final 23 players by dropping defender Andreas Beck. The 23-year-old Hoffenheim defender has seven caps for Germany but was one of the players whose place had been considered unsafe. Loew will take to South Africa a young squad which is missing captain Michael Ballack and four other injured players. Italy cuts Rossi, Borriello American-born forward Giuseppe Rossi and AC Milan striker Marco Borriello have been dropped from Italy's World Cup squad. Coach Marcello Lippi also sent home goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu, defender Mattia Cassani and midfielder Andrea Cossu upon announcing his final 23-man team Tuesday. Midfielder Mauro Camoranesi remained in the squad despite injuring his left knee during training Tuesday.
