Women and children are the main victims of domestic violence, and parents are responsible for 72 percent of cases of domestic abuse, according to Maha Al-Muneef, executive head of the National Family Safety Program (NFSP). Speaking at an NFSP meeting at Madina's Taiba University this week, Al-Muneef spoke of the need for children to “be educated and learn respect for the body, to form a complete awareness for its protection from violence”. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the university's International Book Fair where the NFSP was handing out copies of a coloring book. “The book is one of the NFSP's most significant and successful awareness programs,” Al-Muneef said. “It has been distributed to many schools to raise children's awareness of child abuse, and the Ministry of Education has requested a print run so that it can be supplied to every school in the Kingdom.”
