Asir Education's branch committee for human rights held a meeting on Sunday to review its work of the past year and the response of the Human Rights Commission (HRC) to requests for assistance in terms of information leaflets on children's and women's rights, and the rights of persons with special needs. Chaired by the regional Director General of Education Abdulrahman Al-Fasayyil, the gathering approved the committee's planned activities for the forthcoming year and issued a series of recommendations, notably the introduction of the topic of human rights into the meeting of regional school principals to be held at the beginning of the next academic year which will see a workshop entitled “How to Involve the Human Rights Committee in Schools”. Other proposals approved were the distribution of information packages from the HRC to all Asir schools, and an invitation to Ahmad Al-Bahkali, the regional head of the National Society for Human Rights to give a public lecture.
