Saudi Arabia and US were cooperating closely on security, and both shared a deep concern about militant activities in Yemen, said US Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano here Monday. “The security coordination is very strong with Saudi Arabia,” she said after meetings with King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and senior officials. “We all share a concern about terrorist activity emanating from Yemen,” Napolitano said. Speaking at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Napolitano said that she met Saudi officials to discuss security issues and US visas for Saudi students, but that she did not discuss terror financing. During her visit to the JCCI she met Saudi businesswomen. “I came here because I was impressed by hearing about Saudi women who are taking leading positions here, and I wanted to talk about my own career and explain how women can be in politics in the United States,” she said. – SG with agenciesIn a news conference held after her meeting with Saudi businesswomen, Napolitano declined to comment on the Israeli attacks on a Gaza aid flotilla Monday, saying any response would come from Washington.
