Over 160 students are participating in the first Open Table Tennis Tournament at New Middle East International School here. Tabassum Farooqi, Principal, New Middle East International School, Riyadh (NMEIS), inauguarated the event Wednesday in the presence of enthusiastic students, school staff and match referees. Boys and girls who are under 14, 16 and 19 years of age will compete in singles and doubles matches during the four-day tournament being held at NMEIS sports auditorium. This open table tennis tournament is the first of its kind organized in Riyadh for students of international schools, affiliated to New Delhi-based Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Asiya Massarat, Supervisor for 6th to 10th Grade, NMEIS, and coach Ziaur Rahman are instrumental in organizing the tournament. Students from International Indian School, Riyadh (IISR), Delhi Public School, International Indian Public School, Al-Yasmeen School, Al-Aaliya School and New Middle East International School are taking part in the tournament. Some of the TT enthusiasts who came forward to sponsor the tournament include Engr. S. Jawaher, Al Jafri, Engr. Muhammad Amanullah, Engr. Meer Imaduddin, Engr. Masood Ahmed Khan, Ali Sayeed, Arifullah Sharif, Parvez Rahman and Engr. Ali Ahmed and Kashif.
