'Atf villages, 20 km north of Bisha Governorate, remained without electricity for eight hours on Tuesday, from 2 P.M. until 10 P.M., at a time when temperatures soared to 40 degrees centigrade. The power outage forced residents to stay outside their hot homes. At the beginning of the night, they used candles and lights using gas and fuel. One resident had no choice but to his car lamps to light up his shop. The frozen foods in the shop's refrigerators and freezers were spoiled. Saudi nationals, Muhammad Al-Aklabi, Dhaifallah Al-Jubairi and Abdul Aziz Al-Aklabi, said the Al-'Atf villages of 9,000 residents have been suffering because of power outages. This is because of the aging network. In addition, the electricity poles were old and broke easily. This happened on Wednesday with one of the poles. Citizen Muhammad Misfir Al-Jubairi said the weak current and repetitive power outages have destroyed many household appliances causing huge losses. Meanwhile, Muhammad Al-Ghamdi, Director of Electricity in Bisha Governorate, attributed the power outage to a collision with an electricity pole. He said the emergency teams dealt with the situation. He stressed that there is no weakness in the current feed to the villages of Al'Atf in general, but there might be some individual cases, which the Saudi Electricity Company will deal with immediately.
