Jabara Bin Eid Al-Suraisiry, Minister of Transport, ordered Thursday an immediate investigation into the bus crash on the Al-Sulail to Riyadh road that took the lives of 22 people Wednesday. “An urgent investigation has started with all parties involved,” Al-Suraisiry said Thursday. The minister visited the site of the crash, approximately 50 kilometers from the Al-Sulail region, with other officials and representatives of the transport company, and also passed on condolences to the families of the victims from King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. 17 other passengers were injured in the incident when the bus collided with the parked transport truck from the rear and caught fire. Ibrahim Al-Hunaidi from the company owning the transport truck said that the driver had reported a breakdown over 15 hours before the crash occurred, but that authorities failed to remove the vehicle. There were 15 Indians, eight Saudis, seven Pakistanis, four Bangladeshis, two Syrians, two Yemenis and one Egyptian on board the bus.
